Anandajit Ray received his B.F.A and M.F.A. from the M. S. University, Baroda. He received the Elizabeth Green Shield Scholarship (1991) and the Sanskriti Award (2000).
He has held solo exhibitions at Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (1993 & 2002) and Bangalore (1994), Eicher Gallery, New Delhi (1995), Syrup, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (1998), S.M.T.W.T.F.S., Nazar, Baroda (1999), Gallery Espace, New Delhi (2002), Gallerie ‘88, Kolkata (2002) and 4 the Future 11, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2004)
