Born in 1940 in Nizampur, Andhra Pradesh. He studied at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture, Hyderabad and the Faculty of fine Arts, M.S.University, Baroda. Having practiced art in various media with equal ease, his artistic creations go as far back as 1965, with several one-man shows in India and abroad.
A prominent artist and participant of several important national and international exhibitions including Contemporary Indian Art, Royal Academy of Art, London (1982), Contemporary Indian Art, Grey Art Gallery, New York (1985), His works have in years gone by been acquired by prestigious patrons the world over. Some of them being The Pillips Collection, Washington DC (1986), Contemporary Art of India: The Herwitz Collection, Worcester Art Museum (1986), Center of International Modern Art, Calcutta and National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi (1993).
Laxma is known as India’s finest draughtsman, his acute sense of observation being his hallmark.
